Description
New York, an ordinary day on the job, you're acquiring a role of Aya Brea, a police officer. A Christmas Eve is the present day, and you decided to come and visit the opera theater. Now this is where the fireworks begin. Under yet unknown circumstances, people are set on fire, tosted completely, and it all appears that the lead vocal is the source of this burning terror. Yet, you appear to be immune and as a police officer, you're always on duty, you try to confront the danger.
There has to be some connection between the two of you, as that seem only rational explanation. What if mitochondria is a species on its own, more advanced then human kind, using them only to create environment and civilization for themselve, and purely using human kind as hosts. What if mitochondria is the natural enemy of human kind. Well, you as Aya, are natural enemy for them, so the battle for survival and uncovering the real truth has already started.
The game is played through six or seven days, each day will bring its own quest. As for those who played SquareSoft's
Final Fantasy series, battle is controlled differently in this game, as in you still have your time limit for attacking and/or using parasite powers, but you'll run across the battlefield and be able to dodge enemy fire or even strike from better angle or behind. There are not too many weapons included (maybe about 20 or so), but each weapon has the ability to upgrade to an infinite strength, depending on how many tools you posses to fix and upgrade your weapons. In this game, your save points are marked as phones, each working phone is a point where you can save your game. In game prevails rather dark areas and corners, and its atmosphere is a lot alike the one in
Blade Runner, only you're a memer of NYPD instead of LAPD.

Trivia
Square Soft releases soundtracks for most of their games (or posible all of 'em), so soundtrack for
Parasite Eve isn't anything unexpected, and could be found on many online stores like SynSoniq.com, AnimeNation.com or such. Music composer for
Parasite Eve tracks is Yoko Shimomura. Of course, music from the game cannot even be compared in quality with the soundtrack score, as this is orchestrated, far more better quality and digitized.
