Starlord
Description official description
Starlord is a game of exploration and conquest from Mike Singleton, the author of the similarly-focused Midwinter and The Lords of Midnight. As the title implies, Starlord is set in a science-fiction world, as opposed to the fantasy universes of those previous games.
Your family are Starlords of a single planet, but seek dominance of a vast space consisting of 1000 individually-ruled planets. If you are to come out on top you will have to manage resources across each of your starbases, using revenue to ensure enough fuel, food and minerals are available. Trade with other leaders and form tactical agreements.
To actually take over planets, you will have to lead your ships into space combat, which is played out in multiple-view 3D.

Trivia
Development
The game originated as a play-by-mail game ran by Mike Singleton from 1981 to 1986. Development of the computer game version originally began in 1987, originally for Firebird, and the game was first advertised as early as 1989.
Release delay
The game was originally scheduled for release in autumn of 1993 and review copies were sent out to magazines accordingly, with many of them reviewing the game in their late 1993 issues. However, as reported in German PC Player's review, the release was cancelled at the last minute and development continued for several months, until the game was finally released in spring of 1994.
