Some games support continuation of the story from previous game in the series. The choices made in previous game or episode can be continued upon, or a character party from previous game can be imported and used when starting new game rather than using default new character party. Bottomline, saved game data file can be imported in some games to pass the choices and characters from one game onto the next.
