The Fujitsu "FM Towns" system was a PC-compatible machine made in 1989 specifically for multimedia purposes. Graphics resolutions were better than VGA, allowing 360x240 up to 640x480 in 256 colors out of 16.7 million, with additional sprite capabilities. The FM Towns system also supported 8 digital channels and 6 synthesized channels.
