James Oliver Rigney, Jr. was a best selling author of fantasy novels. He began writing in 1977, and used the pen names Robert Jordan, Reagan O'Neal and Jackson O'Reilly.
Using his Robert Jordan pen name, his best known work was The Wheel of Time series on which The Wheel of Time game (1999) was based.
Under the name Reagan O'Neal, he wrote several different series: Fallon and Conan the Barbarian. The only known book published under the pseudonym Jackson O'Reilly was Cheyenne Raiders in 1982.
He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on Oct. 17, 1948, and died Sept. 16, 2007 of heart disease at the age of 58.
