I was going to enter some reviews from Jeaxactu to the database:

https://www.mobygames.com/critic/861/jeuxactu/

as it seems with first year 2001 they have over 20 years of history and like 560 reviews in the database, it's like 28 reviews per year (they seem a bit under-represented).

And I was browsing their reviews and found out they gave a score of 21 out of 20 to Red Dead Redemption 2. It seems they did it on purpose.

Not that I am going to add this particular review quickly, or at all, but this matter buggers me: Can a critic give more that 100 % to the average?

We can, I think, either:

  • allow that, and allow a 105% score,

  • consider it to be a 100% score,

  • assume, that a max of this portal is actually 21, and score the other reviews on this site accordingly, but we would have to spend a lot of time explaining to people who would notify about corrections. For example I would enter their review of the Gunk

https://www.jeuxactu.com/test-the-gunk-parfaitement-taille-pour-le-xbox-game-pass-126570.htm

with score 14 / 20, as 14 / 21, and we would get a lot of corrections: no, they clearly wrote it's 14 out of 20.

Not to mention (still, I am mentioning, am I not) correcting all the people who enter score out of 20 for a game.

I feel I'm being a nuissance, but it buggers me.

It should be scored 20 out to 20 as its a one off likely done in a hyperbolic way. You can note in the abstract that it scored a 21.

A and A+ both equal 100 here so is a similar thing in a way.
