It was the Grinch who stole Christmas! (Uh, I'm not sure, can you use the Wayback Machine to work it out...)

On that note, I seem to have just lost 9. Had 9253 a few hours ago, 9244 now.

Has there been a change of weighting of a contribution type (like we had it once for reviews)?

Could it be that companies from the release info got removed or added. I noticed this a few times that after I submitted a game and somebody else added the credits sometimes extra companies got added. But regardless of this I think a few measly points more or less should not be that big of a deal;)

[Q --start Flapco wrote--]Could it be that companies from the release info got removed or added. [/Q --end Flapco wrote--] Full disclosure - I've been doing just that for the past 2-3 days. There's a lot of DLC/special editions/compilations/etc. that still don't have that removed. I did briefly check if an example game (happened to be jaXen's contribution) had any effect if I removed the developers (note that this isn't rejecting or replacing, just removing one part of the existing submission), and it didn't, at least not in that moment.

I did also edit some genres for a more complete description (I don't think there are points to be made there anyway and there's so much stuff to go through to deal with admittedly ultraslow corrections), especially as some games still use old categorization methods, so I don't know if that has any effect either.

If any staff members know what's up or if what I'm doing is discouraged, please let me know.

Manipulating release information through the admin interface definitely has some unexpected side effects. This year I have 1537 points for company release information with only 30 contributed release info - this just has to come from the ton of release corrections I processed this year.

I think I was told that doing this doesn't affect a user's points - I'm certainly guilty of adding missing or removing incorrect companies from release infos, but I didn't think anything weird would happen until you mentioned this.

So. Weird.

After losing 4 points myself and reading Patrick's post, I've come to a conclusion.

Last night, I removed developers from four DLC packs for Worms Reloaded that I submitted in 2011. In my profile, that counts as four fewer entries in the "Company Release Info" counter, however this seems to have a delay on recalculation.

If we are cleaning up the database, people are fine with this, right? (Hopefully.)

I am. It's just weird how we're not getting a notification via email, or is that only for stuff done by admins?

Many things that are edited through the admin interface are not subject to the approval process and do not leave any notifications at all.

Fine by me, as long as it's something done to set things right, consistently, and not a matter of interpretation.

Well, if a notification is send what was changed...yes. Otherwise it is more than possible that the database has more faults than before.

I just found two entries scraped by you with incorrect developer/publisher. You will probably lose 9 silly MG points, so be prepared. It's the end of the world.

Look above in the thread. That's due to me editing earlier games to be up to standards (no developers etc. for add-ons, compilations, and special editions unless unique to that release).
