While adding critic reviews for magazine Gameluster too late I noticed the default scoring system was 29-02-2024 changed from "Numeric (Highest score is best)" to "Numeric (Lowest score is best)" which is incorrect. This morning I had to manually fix dozens of critic reviews to "Numeric (Highest score is best)".

Please can someone set the default scoring system for Gameluster reviews to "Numeric (Highest score is best)" or, even better, keep it empty? As the default scoring system for most magazines is set in an incorrect format it is better to leave them empty.

I don't see it in the backend. Maybe it is calculated out of existing values?

I do not know what causes 'Numeric (lowest score is best)' to be shown as default scoring system for Gameluster reviews. You can see it for yourself by adding for example a critic review that refers to https://gameluster.com/super-space-club-review-the-chillest-vibes-in-the-galaxy

It would also be convenient if the actual rating system of a review was shown here: https://www.mobygames.com/critic/2204/gameluster/sort:date/page:1/

That way it would be easy to spot divergent values.

Cantillion, finding incorrectly marked "Lowest Score Best" isn't as hard as you think. For instance here:

https://www.mobygames.com/critic/2470/way-too-many-games/

Suicide Squad: 60%, 6/10 - correct,

Star Wars Dark Forces: 80%, 8/10 - correct,

etc.

Up to:

Saga of the Moon Priestess: 83%, 2.5/10 - gotcha. Perhaps must be verified.

Additonally, if you had a column with Lowest Score Best mark, you would check only this column, while sometimes there is something else with the score, which is possibly wrong. For instance here:

https://www.mobygames.com/critic/4/game-revolution/

Starfield: 70%, 7/10,

Final Fantasy XVI: 80%, 8/10,

up to:

Pokémon Scarlet: 67%, 6/9.

So this is the only game scored with 9 points rather than 10?

Suspicious.

I have no much time to use this method, however, especially considering I would like to add some reviews, too.

Note I have notified about some cases of "Lowest score best" which are still in the queue.

I'd like to bump this because in my experience it works like this:

1) MobyGames correctly decides which score type has to be used for a particular review.

2) Then it randomly chooses between the other four options.

I'm not sure if the option value that appears is actually random or if the option is mainly based on majority (i.e. select Highest Score for the same critic so often and that's what you get when you select the critic for a new critic review).

Definitely not. For example, 6009 out of 6393 reviews GameStar (Germany) are "highest score is best" and it still mostly defaults to "lowest score is best", sometimes "star system".
