In June we hit a new record of approved contributions, with 48,800! For reference, we had 43,388 in May. 36,361 in April. 31,927 in March. Last year our rate was around 20k/mo.

We also passed 10,000 games in the Unity Game Engine Group!

And as mentioned in the last update, but I think is worth another mention: We hit a record for most credits in a game, with Diablo IV, which credited 9,166 people!

Fun facts:

  • The most common role on Diablo IV was Audio related, with 2,464 people (there's a lot of Voice Over)
  • 902 people with Art/Graphics roles
  • 397 in Quality Assurance
  • 394 in Programming/Engineering
  • 193 in Design
  • 26 people were credited for "Creature Voice Effects"
  • There were 67 Development Babies
  • 475 people Thanked

I am a bit of a completionist when it comes to documenting video games for a particular console or system. My milestones are to add every official existing game for one platform. Most recently I set my sights on Casio Loopy. Of course documenting every existing game on a platform does open the doors to new record breaking fun facts. For instance how many memory card blocks would you need for all the PlayStation 1 games in the world? We won’t know the answer to that until we get all the tech specs for each and every PS1 game and calculate all the memory card blocks. Not a useful thing to know in the retro video game hobby, but quite a high number.

That would be great! We're 7(?) away with Casio Loopy. Maybe we should % complete to the platforms page (for platforms where we know what the total is).

For instance how many memory card blocks would you need for all the PlayStation 1 games in the world?

Fun question and I look forward to the database being able to answer it. Will try to remember to post about it. :)

My current goals are to hit 1000 VIC-20 games, and to add all the Dragon 32/64 games I can find. I should get close to 1000 by the time I'm done.

Then I'll focus on some other weird old British system. Oric? BBC Micro? Amstrad? ZX-1?

Impressive goals! Aim for 1000 VIC-20 games and collect as many Dragon 32/64 games as possible.
