I noticed that GT Sport has 3 Renault cars listed as DLCs. Should these really count on the website? You can buy most cars (this includes the renaults on the site) with in-game currency or real-life cash. If yes, should we list every single purchasable car as a separate DLC like these Renaults?

No, we do not add any individual in-game purchases here, only add-ons/DLC.

In World of Tanks, for example, there are new tanks and package sets every week, and they are only available for a brief time, and that would be thousands of entries.

However, some of these appear on PSN/SEN or Xbox Marketplace as DLCs where you can buy them normally independent from the game, even if you don't own the game. That is what is treated as DLC.

Things that change in the actual game and can be purchase with in-game currency are handled with game updates. Sometimes new stuff is added, sometimes new stuff is added to in-game online store, but that's all handled with game updates and may be mentioned in the update section, although these are too minor to mention and most of the stuff they just handle online without need to update much of the actual game on your console.

So, no, we don't treat anything you can buy from the game as an actual DLC. That is simply a game content, nothing more.

It's no different than when you kill some monsters in some RPG game, gain experience, and then use that experience as in-game currency to buy new weapons or armor.

DLCs are what is available to buy for the base game from the outside store (digital distribution one, obviously), not from the game itself.

Who knows, maybe in the future these things will change, but it would be impossible to keep track of these things unless you play the game every day and check what is new.

But, if you know about these special things, you can always mention it in the game description or in description of some DLC that is related to this. For example, they may offer some tank as a DLC for World of Tanks, but they may also offer it via in-game currency or also to win it by completing some event. If you are aware of these things, you can mention it in the game or DLC description.

Thanks for the reply! The thing is, these cars can all be bought from the PSN store individually, away from the game. If that's the case then what do these count as?

Yes those are allowed. If someone wants to take on the boring task of adding around 300 DLC entries they can.

Well yes, you can add these stuff from SEN page (use SEN, not PSN for PlayStation), and you can use scraper for those so basically you just enter the URL and skip the description field.

Also release date and publisher will most likely get scraped too, if not, just add publisher as developer is assumed to be the same as for the base game and we don't add it unless it's different.

Also add "download release" in the release info comment and that's about.

Under genres select only "DLC" and the type of that DLC (i.e. "Player Unit").

And under rating categories, add story/presentation and what other may apply to that vehicle, for example Graphics, or if it uses some new audio, Audio as well.

And that's about it. By using scraper you can add each DLC in less than a minute.

So for example, if you want to add this game...

https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-CUSA03220_00-GTSACARCE6728001

...you could just enter that link in the scraper and fill in necessary stuff I mentioned above (skip the Description step, because if you start writing it it will require a description and you won't be able to leave it as empty, so don't enter anything in the description box).

Also, when scraping games, be sure to adjust title from PSN or XBML or Steam. Meaning DLCs should always have a base game title as the prefix, and our syntax is like this...

TITLE: SUBTITLE - SUBSUBTITLE

...so if scraped title looks like "GT Sport - Ferrari LaFerrari '13" or if it's just "Ferrari LaFerrari '13" on PSN/SEN, be sure to rename it to "GT Sport: Ferrari LaFerrari '13".

Once you get the hang of it, these things go really really fast.
