Now it says worldwide, which seems to be the correct date for US and GB, but not for Japan. Are the dates on these store pages trustworthy?

As far as I can tell, the game was released in Japan on the same date (August 28th) as it was in the west. There is no Japanese coverage of the game during the months of March and April 2020. Moshi-nara lists the August date and said date lines up with the game's release on consoles.
