Going over the other Character Soft game on file, the back cover lists the following companies:

製作: 株式会社マリオ (Mario Co., Ltd.)
販売: 株式会社アスキー (ASCII)
販売: 株式会社サンリオ (Sanrio)
発売: 株式会社キャラクターソフト (Character Soft)

1) We have a company page for Mario Co., Ltd. but no credits. Like the question for ASCII in the other post, what should their role be here?

2) How should ASCII & Sanrio be credited? The translation for 販売 seems to be Sales/Marketing though I'm not sure which English role is usually used for this.

3) Did Nintendo actually work on this? Outside of Hip Tanaka, they all seem to be Pax Softnica staff. Also, GDRI only lists Pax Softnica; they don't list Nintendo as a co-developer.

  1. Programmer Takayuki Onodera seems a bit off after 1990. Maybe the company had a supervising role though? So production in a wider role perhaps. In the early days the meaning of 製作 (Seisaku/production) wasn't always that clear and could have meant 開発 (Kaihatsu/development) as well as companies doing only supervision/publishing duties and outsourcing everything else to unmentioned subcontractors. Most staff is Pax Softnica as it seems though.

  2. Normally 販売 can roughly be translated to distributor with all its duties and 発売 to Publisher.
