As far as I know, the MSX version is a different game, it is actually the very first game of the Parodius series. The other versions are all ports of the second game that was originally released as an arcade game and is titled Parodius Da! in Japan (simply Parodius in Europe).

I haven't played any of those games. I got the information from Hardcore Gaming 101 and Wikipedia.

You are correct. It's been listed in the internal Approver splits list since 2006, but someone needs to submit a new game entry for the MSX version before anything can be done.
