**Electronic Arts Ships DEER HUNT CHALLENGE for the PC

EA SPORTS Expands Traditional Sports Lineup with True-to-Life Hunting Simulation**

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., October 19, 1999 - Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS), the world s largest interactive entertainment software company, today announced that it shipped Deer Hunt Challenge for the PC. Deer Hunt Challenge is both a simple pick up and play PC gaming experience and an in-depth hunting simulation. Priced at $19.95, the game delivers a premium hunting experience to outdoor sports fans at a competitive price.

This marks EA SPORTS first foray into the massive outdoor sports category that accounted for $71.4 million in 1998 sales for PC hunting and fishing titles, according to market research firm PC Data based in Reston, Va.

EA SPORTS is known for making quality sports games and with Deer Hunt Challenge we extend this brand quality to outdoor sports, said Chip Lange, vice president of EA SPORTS marketing. We recognize how popular outdoor sports are and we are up for the challenge of providing a first rate and fun hunting game at a competitive price.

Deer Hunt Challenge tests game players skills against hundreds of trophy bucks in more than 40 classic hunting scenarios in prime hunting regions throughout North America. Cyber-hunters can hunt the three most popular deer species: whitetail, blacktail and mule deer and choose from a vast selection of terrain and scenarios ranging from New England autumnal backcountry, snow covered foothills in the West or any variation of North American hunting terrain and conditions. Authentic hunting environments, full 3-D graphics, realistic animal Artificial Intelligence and either first- or third- person hunting perspectives provide lifelike hunting experiences.

What makes this game fun is that it offers either a quick fix for late night, off-season hunting urges or a fresh challenge for PC users looking for a new game playing experience, said Randy Dersham, executive producer of Deer Hunt Challenge. You can load up Deer Hunt Challenge on your PC and experience the thrill of the hunt in seconds. We created a true hunting experience with over 40 different levels that put you in the woods with the deer where the action is. This is a fun, well-rounded game that tests your hunting knowledge with realistic scenarios, multiple hunt levels and rich graphics."

Deer Hunt Challenge drops game players into the hunt at the moment of decision, where they can go for the immediate reward of bagging the first available buck, or use hunting strategies to position themselves for a more rewarding hunting experience by bringing down a bigger, more elusive buck. The transition from Greenhorn beginner to Master Hunter requires advancing from level to level while bagging the top buck in each scenario of Hunt Challenge mode. Hunters choose their favorite way to hunt including: stalking, tracking, still hunt, tree stands, blinds, calls, scents, decoys, rifles, shotguns, and bows. The game also offers Hunting Trip for an open-ended hunting adventure, in which the hunter controls the location and conditions.

Deer Hunt Challenge is a single-player title that supports both a mouse and keyboard controlled interface or a joystick peripheral. Consumers may purchase the game directly at the EA Store (http://www.eastore.ea.com) or by calling EA Direct Sales at 1.800.245.4525. The game carries an ESRB rating of T (Teen).
