International Superstar Soccer 2

Konami has two separate football franchises - Pro Evolution Soccer, the grittily realistic simulation, and ISS, the more arcade-influenced elder brother, with a pedigree stretching back to the days of 16 bit consoles. ISS has always been renowned for it's superb visuals, but this latest PlayStation 2 incarnation pushes the series to new heights, with stunningly detailed player animations, stadia, crowds, and spot effects adding to the footballing tension.

The gameplay has also been improved, with matches feeling a little less frantic than before, making smooth passing movements much easier to execute. A new dead ball system allows for precise set-piece deliveries, and goalscoring is as challenging as ever, thanks to super-agile goalkeepers. With over 50 international teams to choose from, a highly advanced tactics editor, and excellent commentary from Jon Champion and Mark Lawrenson, this will be one football title to watch this summer.
