Whiplash is set in a high-tech product testing facility where questionable experiments are conducted on animals. The game stars two animal fugitives, Spanx and Redmond, who find themselves chained together and on the run to escape the lab. As Spanx, the player uses Redmond as their weapon to not only escape, but also to free other enslaved animals and bankrupt the corporation by destroying the property.

"Do you hate kiddie cartoons? Would you like to see a bunny fry? If so, then Whiplash might just be the game for you. It doesn't have depth or any mind-blowing mechanics, but the destroy-everything-in-sight gameplay is more rewarding than you'd expect. The story is humorous," - Gamezone.com

Meet Spanx and Redmond, the latest, and quite possibly maddest, character action heroes to take PS2 by storm

From Legacy of Kain creators Crystal Dynamics comes something very different from Kain and Raziel's usual blood draining antics. Whiplash is a genetically modified character actioner that sees its two hapless heroes - Spanx and Redmond - trying to escape from the clutches of the nefarious Genron Corporation.

The highly unethical Genron Corp has put the unlikely duo through a gruelling series of experiments; Spanx - the manic, wild-eyed ferret - has been subjected to electro-shock therapy, while Redmond - the perpetually harassed bunny rabbit - has had his fur sprayed with DuraSpray hair spray, turning his pelt into an impenetrable suit of armour. To cap it all, Genron has used its 'Genetic Recombinator' to permanently conjoin the pair, allowing Spanx to use his long suffering lupine companion as a weapon, grappling hook, sledge hammer and even helicopter.

A huge part of Whiplash's appeal is the wanton destruction involved; as you rampage around the laboratories and offices of Genron Corp's HQ, you'll have ample opportunity to trash the joint. The game even tallies up the insurance bill for your escapades, so each time you write off a computer terminal or rack of test tubes, you're shown their cash value. The other really fun aspect of Whiplash is tormenting the poor bunny Redmond. If he takes an unusually high number of blows in a short space of time, he goes 'postal', thrashing about wildly on his chain and pounding any enemies unfortunate enough to get in the way. He can also be set on fire or electrocuted for special attacks and at one point, you even use him to block a toilet, creating a foul smelling mess that wards off enemies.

  • Two characters for the price of one - use Redmond as a weapon, grappling hook, sledgehammer and more besides
  • Wreak a trail of havoc as you tear around Genron Corp, liberating animals and destroying property
  • Take on a multitude of enemies, from warped scientists and ruthless security guards to Genron's evil CEO
