Hot Potato!

Tough tubers got eyes for trouble in BAM!'s wham-bam spud-shooter.

Blending droll humor with classic color-matching gameplay, Hot Potato! is a charming puzzler from BAM! Entertainment (makers of Powerpuff Girls GBC).

The not-exactly-fresh backstory has alien spuds loitering in the streets of a quiet burg. You pilot a spud-cleaning vehicle that carries six spuds in two rows. Press A to flip the rows left and right and B to fire a row.

If you shoot a spud at another of the same color, both will be eliminated, but if you don't, the spud you just fired will clog up the street until you eliminate it. If you crash into a spud, you'll lose one of your three lives.

There are additional items to collect and bonus points for meeting certain objectives, such as eliminating spuds hiding behind a wall of fellow spuds, but the underlying mechanics remain the same.

Unlike many GBA games, Hot Potato! is only for one player. Although lacking that mind-warping addictiveness of truly great puzzlers, Hot Potato! is a pleasant diversion for the solo player.

Hot Potato! on the Game Boy Advance

Silly spuds from outer space have taken over the streets and are waiting for someone to take them home. Players will be amused as they maneuver through levels of constant craziness, attempting to match up space spuds. Players will need to evacuate as many of the shipwrecked potatoes as they guide their bus to the escape rocket!
