Beyond the Law: The Third Wave

aka: Den Tredje Vågen, Trzecia Fala: Los Europy w Twoich rekach
Moby ID: 12888

Windows version

Mediocre but not terrible tactical game.

The Good
Solid game that simplifies the Commandos/Desperados-style gameplay to a more casual audience. Relatively accessible and no-frills.

The Bad
Very bare-bones, the gameplay is not very intuitive at first. Silenced pistol user and sniper are kinda overpowered compared to other characters. There's no music aside from main menu.

The Bottom Line
Third Wave tries to merge tactical squad games like Jagged Alliance (based around combat) with Commandos (based around stealth) - and I don't think it succeeds at either. Combat is pretty poor, and stealth is overly simplistic. There are no specialized abilities that make Commandos-likes fun, and there is no proper cover system and your characters have too pathetically small gunfire range to make combat fun. It's not as bad as some people say, but there are way better games in this style. But if you already finished them, it's not a bad time.
