Archibald's Guide to the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt
Description
Archibald's Guide to the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt is an educational game for little children, intended to teach them stories of Ancient Egypt and even to read the hieroglyphics.
Archibald is a little boy who serves as our guide in four modes of play. The first two are 'interactive books' - we learn about the Myth of Osiris and about why and how mummies were made. There are many 'activities' on each screen, with sounds and animations. Besides, each such chapter of the story has a hidden fragment of the magical masque of Ra - the general task of the game is to collect 14 lost pieces of it by clicking on different persons and items on the screen. After finding all 'treasure fragments', the player receives the secret code - it had to be mailed to the publisher in order to get in return the certificate of the Junior Explorers Club membership along with some trading cards.
The third game-play modes consists in learning the hieroglyphics: which symbol corresponds to which sound, written in Latin transcriptions, together with some numbers and determinatives.
Finally, in the fourth and last mode we are allowed to write our own 'coded messages' - in English, but with hieroglyphic symbols, and to save them and to print them in order to exchange messages with friends.
