A creepy ride

The Good
There are few environments found in the big city as atmospheric, mysterious, and horror-friendly as a metro train late at night. The Ghost Train makes full use of that, immersing you in the daily commute of an office worker haunted by memories from his past. The game is really good at mixing mundane day-to-day situations with surreal, atmospheric horror, and its aesthetic manages to be familiar, creepy, and pretty at the same time.

The gameplay is relatively simple for an adventure game, but it's still rather effective, and its two main puzzles are pretty interesting, without disrupting the flow of the entire experience. Compared to a majority of Chilla's Art's other games, The Ghost Train's environments are much more straightforward, so looking for items and backtracking never really becomes frustrating.

The game's story may be simple, but its fragmentized narration works very well, and the good ending can be pretty moving.

The Bad
The only thing holding back The Ghost Train is probably its straightforwardness and short length. While these two aspects prevent the game from developing larger design flaws, they also limit its overall emotional impact.

The Bottom Line
Despite its short length, The Ghost Trains is a really atmospheric experience mixing day-to-day situations with surreal horror and a moving story. 7/10
