GLENDALE, Calif., Dec. 2, 1996 - Knowledge Adventure today announced the availability of JumpStart Adventures 3rd Grade: Mystery Mountain, a fun-filled curriculum-based program that blends the core subjects found in third grade into an exciting and compelling adventure for children ages 7 to 9. JumpStart Adventures 3rd Grade: Mystery Mountain is available in a wide variety of leading computer software stores, mass merchants, computer superstores, book stores and computer speciality stores. The street price is estimated at $40.

Larry Gross, president of Knowledge Adventure, said, "This new addition to our JumpStart series truly represents our philosophy that learning should be an adventure. By blending the core curriculum of third grade into a learning adventure, children enjoy a fun and challenging game while getting a head start on their third grade curriculum skills. With the bonus CD-ROM, children can also try out KnowledgeLand with its chat and collaborative capabilities to expand their learning experiences."

JumpStart Adventures 3rd Grade: Mystery Mountain integrates math (addition, subtraction, units of measurement and column multiplication), English (spelling, grammar and sentence structure), history, geography, life science, earth science, art styles and music scores into a learning adventure. A third grader named Polly Spark and her 25 time-meddling robots embark on a quest to change history forever using her father's time traveling machine. Her former robot companion, R.O. Botley, asks for help in stopping Polly and her group of robots. Sneaking into Professor Spark's fantastic laboratory nestled deep within Mystery Mountain, children assist Botley by answering riddles, completing scavenger hunts and solving multi-step challenges to collect hidden objects. By assembling these objects before Polly saps their energy, children capture the 25 robots while simultaneously sharpening their reading, spelling, math, science, art and music skills.

Knowledge Adventure's Adaptive Learning Technology customizes the difficulty levels to meet the developing competency of the child. To monitor a child's progression through the use of the program, the Progress Report provides immediate, printable feedback for parents, teachers and care givers. Difficulty levels automatically adjust or can be customized while playing many of the activities.
