BloodRayne 2

Moby ID: 18287

Windows version

Gory Hack n Slash that is a challenge

The Good
Graphics - Works well with the atmosphere, but only if you have lots of RAM and a good video card, preferably any GF4 and higher recommended, but even though when I tested the game with an 866mhz system I got decent framerates.

The physics engine is uber sweet. Pretty much the entire scene can be obliterated with your weapons. so everything is destructible.

Tons of new moves and features to kill those enemies, and they can be challenging, but there always strategies and hints that'll help you along the way.

The Bad
Replayability is low, once you're done beating the game, the only thing left to do is repeat the process. It's a great stress reliever if you enjoy mutilating corpses with your blade. The game field is kinda dark to the point where everything is hidden under a veil, so it's hard to find those enemies.

One major drawback of the game is it's controls. On WASD keyboard it's a pain in the neck trying to work the mouse and keys together. So a nice gamepad would work well in this situation...

Another drawback is the console like camera controls, they offer so little options on what to do with the camera, and you'll spend most of your time adjusting it to your needs. It can also make you dizzy after a while.

AI is hard, there's no difficulty slider so when you start out you'll get your butt kicked a few times in the first level before you got the controls down, but even so, it's hard, and definitely does not cater to the lightweight gamer.

The Bottom Line
I give this game a 3.5/5, if you're a hardcore gamer and love to cut up people with blades and swords, then this is for you, but if you're squeamish when you see blood and body limbs, then stay away. Simple as that.
