Wacky explosive chaos but this isn't for you serious race-sim drivers

The Good
Every so often you get a game that breaks the mold and makes a bold thrust at innovation. CARMAGEDDON TDR 2000 is one of those. It's an uncompromisingly violent science-fiction car racing game, set in a post-apocalyptic world of mutated humans, huge prison complexes and insane thrills.

You are MAX DAMAGE, a ruthless criminal imprisoned for life. With its own cities, pedestrians, police and even wildlife the inmates of this multilevel prison are shut in and left to their own devices. In order to escape you must complete a set of death-defying races and missions in each area.

The extensive areas contain vast amounts of detail and potential challenges. Destructible scenery, suicidal A.I traffic and insane A.I opponents make for a chaotic race. Combine these elements with petrol/bomb throwing pedestrians and a car that is easily damaged, you would think you'd be lucky to finish a race at all let alone win one.

The Bad
Unfortunately a major short-coming of CARMAGEDDON TDR 2000 is that it's deceptively easy. You don't have to come first to win the races, you just have to cross the finish inside the time limit. With an instant recovery/repair button and ample time its almost impossible to fail to complete the races. It's a shame because it undermines a race style that's both original and a pleasure to play.

The Bottom Line
With 9 different areas, 48 missions, 50 different vehicles and a fun free-driving mode, CARMAGEDDON TDR 2000 has many hours of potential game-play .

CARMAGEDDON TDR 2000 does have a Multiplayer option but I was unable to find any servers, this is the fate of many games that are forgotten over time.
