Description official description

In I'm O.K: A Murder Simulator, you play as Osaki Kim, whose son was beaten to death with a baseball bat by a fourteen-year-old who loved violent video games. In the opening, the murderer is sentenced to life in prison, but Mr. Kim needs more. After the trial, he is approached by a man named Jack Offson, who informs him the video industry is the real killer and starts him on a murderous revenge spree.

Osaki Kim starts with two weapons that have unlimited ammunition: a baseball bat and a pistol. As he gains money, he can buy a shotgun, throwing knives, a shotgun, twin Uzis, a bazooka and Molotov cocktails, all of which have limited ammunition. Osaki can also urinate, which is a reference to Postal 2. This ability has no offensive use, but can put out fires.

Gameplay is strictly 2D and similar to the Metal Slug series. Osaki Kim moves and attacks left and right and must make it to the end of each level to fight a boss battle. Money is awarded based on performance in the battle. Between each level, there is a bonus level at a game retailer. Using the mouse, you must snipe the customers, then shoot the coins they drop out of the air. This is your main source of money. After the bonus round, you go to the gun shop, where you can purchase additional weapons and ammunition.

There are four levels in all: The house of video-game-company executive Paula Eibler, the offices of video-game-industry law firm Blank, Stare, Arcade Game Werks and E3. The Bonus levels are Beast Buy, P.U. Games and Mal-Wart.

Trivia

Development

This game was made in response to anti-gaming activist Jack Thompson's written "modest proposal". According to the proposal Thompson would pay $10.000 to a charity, chosen by Take-Two CEO Paul Eibeler, if someone released a game based on his script in 2006. The script describes a violent game about a father who takes revenge on the video games industry after his son was killed by a gamer. However, Thompson never paid the money but stated his proposal was a joke.

References

The game's title screen is inspired by the one from Capcom's Mega Man 2.
