Ubisoft announces arrival of WW2 RTS at retailers.

September 13, 2006 - The RTS genre's assault on the wallets of gamers that began yesterday with the shipping announcements of Company of Heroes and Joint Task Force continues today with the announcement that Faces of War, a WW2 RTS from the creators of Soldiers Heroes of World War II, has deployed to retail locations.

According to the announcement, Faces of War takes gamers "where few RTS games have gone before" by offering "the ability to direct an intelligent squad of soldiers" through destructible battlefields of the Second World War. These soldiers won't simply follow any suicidal order the player gives them as they will analyze the tactical situation to find the "most efficient and safe way" to achieve the objective.

Players will command American, English, Soviet and German troops while fighting famous conflicts such as the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge or the Battle of Berlin. In addition, the game will allow players to take individual control of on-screen units and direct them in third-person mode as well as engaging opponents online through eight multiplayer modes.

Faces of War is rated M for Mature due to Blood, Language, and Violence and retails for $39.99.

В игре нашли отражение события заключительного этапа войны в Европе — лета 1944 года — весны 1945. Проект предлагает вниманию игроков три кампании: за советские войска, за союзников и за немцев.

Советская кампания посвящена последнему великому сражению на Восточном фронте — прорыву советских армий через Одер, окружению и захвату Берлина (конец зимы — весна 1945).

Основные события союзной кампании приходятся на лето и осень 1944 года, когда проводилась операция Overlord, шли бои за освобождение Франции, Бельгии и выход к границам Германии. Кроме того, игрокам предстоит отразить зимнее немецкое контрнаступление в Арденнах. Завершается кампания спецоперацией по захвату немецкой подводной лодки «Летучий Голландец», которая в самом конце войны пыталась вывезти немецкие секретные архивы в Южную Америку.
