The Devil Inside

aka: Ďábel v nás
Moby ID: 2654

Windows version

Jesus saves. And so should I -- if only I were allowed to.

The Good
First of all, it's a good game. Graphics are okay, you get to impersonate a cool daemoness (with wings!) and a sarcastic ghost hunter, which are actually the same person. The setting's also fairly original: the game takes place within a futuristic tv-show, complete with audience sounds, cameraman and witty host. Devil Inside introduced some of the elements Max Payne won critical acclaim for: a slow-motion-mode and replays showing especially good hits on enemies.

The Bad
BUT: The level-design's only average and (biggest disadvantage in my eyes) you're not allowed to save everywhere. That leads to frustration, especially at the end of level 1, where you have to fight two nasty bosses in a row without being able to save in between. First-person-perspective is nearly unplayable due to sluggish controls, luckily you can choose a standard third-person-view as well.

The Bottom Line
Solid action game, cool setting, but slightly flawed gameplay.
