SpongeBob SquarePants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman

Moby ID: 26583

SpongeBob SquarePants is set to soak up laughs on the Nintendo GameCube with a platforming adventure based on the popular Nick-Toon.For the first time, SpongeBob's ocean home of Bikini Bottom has been crafted as a 3D world for you to explore and interact with. Fans are sure to squeal like a school slug as they traverse seven submerged stages with names like Goo Lagoon and Chum World. Ahoy matey!Nautical NonsenseOur silly hero always seems to stumble into perilous predicaments on the bottom of the ocean, but none as ghastly as the Revenge of the Flying Dutchman. The Dutchman has been wreaking havoc since Gary and SpongeBob disturbed his watery resting-place and it's up to you to stop him. From your starting point in SpongeBob's Pineapple home you will learn to jump and glide to reach new areas. You can also smash containers and acquire special items such as a Reef Blower and Jellyfish Catcher. In each stage, you must collect the nine letters that spell 'SpongeBob'.Some of letters are found in precarious positions like high atop Squidward's home. Others can be had for completing zany tasks, such as fixing Patrick Star's TV antenna so he doesn't have to think anymore. Fortunately, a handy To-Do list is available in the Pause Menu so you can view all the tasks for a given world.Graphics and SoundThe undersea themes of the cartoon translate to the game nicely with all sorts of wet wonders. In addition the main characters of the game, jellyfish and pirate apparitions try to put the big squeeze on a certain sponge.SpongeBob leaves a trail of bubbles as he leaps and his silly costume changes merit a few titters or even the occasional guffaw. Suffice to say you won't see anything like 'em at next year's Oscar ceremony. Characters are voiced by the actual cartoon actors, with narration from an appropriately snooty sounding Frenchman. Allons!Mr. SquarePants has appeared on the Game Boy Advance but SpongeBob SquarePants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman is the first attempt to create a three-dimensional game out of this popular cartoon series. Plenty of humorous details will please SpongeBob's zillions of fans. The helpful To-Do list makes this game accessible by younger players.
