Akuma: Demon Spawn
Somewhere deep under the ground lives the lord of all demons, known as Satan or Akuma. He plotted to use his infernal powers to organize his demons for an all out war against humanity. Satan wanted to terminate every human being.
Demons started spawning around the eastern side of China - appearing through demon pits, holes created by Satan. They came up at night, killed people in villages, and wandered around looking for more victims. The holes were created by Satan as a passageway from the underworld to the upper world and can't be used by human being. There was no known way for humans to get into the underworld. The great sorcerer, Kitarou, studied the demons and determined that there was only one way to end this war by entering the underworld and killing Satan
Satan suffered a rebellion of his war-lords who wanted to rule both the upper world and the underworld themselves. He was seemingly driven into hiding or retirement while his former lieutenants, the Western and Eastern devils, ruled in his place. They continued the war against humans.
Three young warriors were finally selected as demon hunters they bore the hopes of survival for all humanity. One warrior was chosen from each of the most threatened countries: Japan, Korea, and China, to accomplish the great task of killing Satan and destroying the power of demons. But first they need to find the path to the underworld and a means of killing Satan. Rumors circulate about the three warriors calling them a Blood Trinity who may be able to save all life on Earth or die trying.
The Blood Sword is an ancient magical weapon made from the blood and souls of victims of Satan. It is the only weapon that can remove Satan's power, effectively killing him. The Blood Sword was broken in a power struggle between Satan and his demons millennia ago and thought to be lost. Satan has long thought himself the possessor of the sword but he really only has one half of it. The other half is sealed away by powerful magic and kept in Soul Castle in the underworld. It can only be released by a spell kept secret among a family of magic users.
To gain entrance to the underworld the warriors must first find the Breath Sword. Once the weapon of a knight who tired of fighting and withdrew from the world it is now sealed in stone and hidden in a secret place. To even gain access to its hiding place they need a password sword to get past its guardian. To release it from the stone they need holy water and an unsealing spell. Once they have the Breath Sword the warriors use it to unseal a demon, Hellminor, from his prison of stone. When they defeat him in battle all demons are driven from the world and he is forced to lead them to the entrance to the underworld. They destroy a wall barring them from the entrance and descend to the underworld.
Once in the underworld the warriors find it filled with kidnapped humans, some working for the demons, some just trying to survive and keep a pretence of a normal life going on. There are villages in the underworld, cut off from each other and subsisting on rumors of what is happening elsewhere. The Blood Trinity once again try to help the villagers while they accumulate information about the whereabouts of the Blood Sword and the two demons, the Western and Eastern devils, who rule the underworld in the absence of Satan. These two demons are part of a group of devil war-lords fighting amongst themselves for ultimate control of the underworld before attempting the takeover of the world.
The warriors make contact with the Raegios, a family of half-breed witches and wizards - part demon part human, who have powerful magical talents but who are unable to use their magic because of a spell cast upon them by the two ruling demons. The Raegios do not want to see the devils take over the world. During the struggle to free the family from the spell the warriors meet a Doll-Maker who claims to have the power to undo the sealing spell on the Raegios. He gets the warriors to kill the two ruling demons and to bring him their eyes and ears borrowed from Satan. The Doll-Maker is really Satan using the heroes to defeat his enemies. But his plan works against him - the last demon to die reveals the hiding place of the Blood Sword's missing other half and tells the Blood Trinity that it has sufficient power to kill Satan. The warriors obtain the secret release spell for the sword from the wizard and unseal the sword. The wizard tells them where Satan is hiding and they confront him with the sword.
The overall objective of Akuma is to kill Satan and rid the world of demons. To do this the player must locate the Blood Sword, the only weapon that can defeat Satan. The game begins in the upper world or real world. In single player mode the user controls three warriors: The Blood Trinity. The three heroes are: Kusa a Japanese magician and swordsman, Raening a Chinese princess trained in martial arts and archery, and Elim a Korean nobleman and master swordsman. Each warrior can be controlled independently or used as part of the group. In multi-player mode each player controls a single warrior.
The heroes start out with only a single weapon each. They have to acquire money both by killing demons and exploring and by fulfilling quests for the villagers ? then they can buy more weapons from the blacksmiths. Other inhabitants of the villages have a variety of goods for sale, from enchanted jewelry to magic spells. Only by engaging in conversation with the villagers will you learn which ones are useful and can provide information and objects to use in your journey and which ones are a waste of your time and efforts.
There are plenty of quests to go on, tasks to carry out, and people to talk to ? both in the villages and outside in the more dangerous countryside. Initially you will have to traverse the world on foot, fighting the many kinds of demons, evil monsters, and wild animals as you encounter them. Later you can acquire keys to the teleportation gates which enable you to jump between villages. Sometimes a witch or other magic user will move you to a new location. Wherever you are your task is to find out the location of the Blood Sword.
To traverse the path to the underworld or unreal world requires another sword: the Breath Sword. This is the means to break through the barrier separating the two worlds. The Breath Sword is a holy weapon hidden away until one who is pure and worthy finds it and can acquire the necessary objects and spells to release it from its hiding place. Some objects you find or are offered along the way will be directly useful to you, others will become trade goods. You must use your judgement as to which paths are worth following an any mission can be declined but you may have to return later if it turns out to provide something you can't obtain elsewhere.
When you make it to the underworld you will find it similar in some ways to the upper world. There are still villages, now inhabited by kidnapped humans, but there are also places where demons live. You must continue to acquire experience, protect yourself, your companions, and others, and monitor your health and the levels of your magical and other abilities. If you are killed your companions can revive you and vice versa. So, you may really need your friends.
In the underworld you must come to understand the politics of who is fighting against who and decide which side to join. There are the ex-lieutenants of Satan struggling for independence from Satan while fighting each other, there are the half-breeds part demon part human, and there are the humans, some of whom have thrown their lot in with the devils. It is your task to decide who has the knowledge you seek about the Blood Sword, its powers, and its whereabouts.

Your journey through the real and underground worlds leads you through many maps as you search for knowledge, weapons, and magical skills. Battles mark every foray into the dangerous wilderness between villages. There are at least 40 battle stages or your characters to survive, or die.
The game supports multiplayer games over both Internet and private network.
Getting into the demon's cave requires courage. It is the first step towards finding Satan, the lord of all demons.

BLOOD TRINITY
Elim is a young swordsman from Korea. A noble from the Shilla Dynasty in Korea, he has excellent sword skills.
Kusa is a Japanese orphan adopted by a Japanese sorcerer and trained in the use of various magic powers.
Rening is a princess of the Chinese Tang Dynasty. She is an expert in a variety of Martial arts and has special archery skills.
