Bravoman

aka: Chōzetsurin-jin Berabōman
Moby ID: 29448

Bravoman first extendo-punched his way into Japanese arcades in 1988, then learned English and came to the TurboGrafx-16 in 1990. This humorous game blended the platforming and beat-'em-up genres to create a tongue-in-cheek take on both Japanese superheroes & videogames. Now, Bravoman is available for the Wii™ Virtual Console™ for your extendo-pleasure!

In the game, you play as none other than the bionic hero Bravoman, who must stop the eeeevil Dr. Bomb. You'd never guess based on his name, but Dr. Bomb intends to destroy the world with...a bomb! A really powerful one, of course, but a bomb nonetheless.

To defeat Dr. Bomb and his countless minions, Bravoman can use his bionic arms, legs, and even neck (much like a certain favorite cartoon character of ours from the 80's) to attack. Of course, no Japanese superhero is complete without being able to transform into something else. In Bravoman's case, he can turn into a submarine and fire torpedoes to battle underwater enemies. There's even a Bravo-jump technique (basically a double-jump), but we'll let you discover how to do that on your own.

There are 22 stages to fight your way through, from a cityscape to a dojo, and many levels give you the choice of which path to take as you proceed. After you defeat each of the various bosses, which include a wacky totem pole and an anti-Bomberman, you're visited by your friend, Lottery Man. Now, usually he gives you some kind of health bonus, but if you're the cruel type who likes to punch your in-game friends, boy are you in for some funny lines coming out of Lottery Man's mouth. Careful, though, because if you annoy him too much, he'll stop giving you bonuses.

Other things you might want to punch include telephone booths and mailboxes (yes, they talk), but the only way you'll be able to see what they say in person is to download Bravoman for your Wii™ Virtual Console™ today!
