Windows version

Fairly tedious; not really up to the previous title (The Awakened)

The Good
Not much. The graphics are - as expected - very good, but not much effort has been applied towards placing the action in interesting locales, so the superior graphics are pretty much wasted. The voice acting is - once again - okay, as is the dialogue. It's nice the way the dialogue gets condensed into a story as things unfold. Some of the puzzles are not bad, so at least there are some challenges here (along with quite a bit of tedium).

The Bad
Some minor historical inaccuracies. The opening chapters take place in an art gallery, which I got sick of fairly quickly. There are quite a lot of 'find the painting' challenges - which sounds interesting but wasn't [good idea though]. It didn't seem like much effort had been made towards linking this adventure to either Sherlock Holmes or Arsene Lupin (or even previous titles in the series), which would have helped to make the action more compelling and interesting. There are some annoying challenges posed in rhyming couplets, which I also got sick of fairly quickly. None of the time-limited sequences from The Awakened are in this title; I think they would have spiced this game up a little.

The Bottom Line
Not great; some efforts have been made to re-create London but I would definitely try 'Sherlock Holmes - The Awakened (Remastered)' first to see if this series is to your liking - this title is definitely weaker. This is another point-and-click game with unfortunately not much special about it. I hope to see this series recover with the new 'Jack the Ripper' title.
