Inspired by one of Homer's classic tales, The Odyssey...Search for Ulysses(TM) takes the player on an interactive odyssey through the lands of mythological gods and creatures.

The player has the opportunity to control Heritias, also referred to in the game as Heriseus, a childhood friend of Ulysses, who has been banished from Ithaca since the Trojan War, a decade past. Queen Penelope, dealing with a kingdom in complete unrest, has summoned him to search the seas for Ulysses, or bring proof of his death.

And so Heritias, guided by the player, sets sail for the Trojan shores. From there, travel the path of Ulysses to the Land of the Lotus Eaters, the Island of the Cyclops, the lair of the Gorgon, the realm of Poseidon and The Elysian Fields on a quest to discover the fate of Ulysses.

Accept the challenge of Poseidon, defeat the gorgon, and escape the dinner plate of the Cyclops ... Welcome to your Odyssey.

Прошло уже десять лет, с тех пор как окончилась Троянская война. Десять лет народ Итаки ждал возвращения своего царя Одиссея, но ожидание было напрасным. Женихи Пенелопы, претенденты на престол, становились всё более настойчивыми. Они повторяли, что Одиссей давно мёртв, и что ей незачем оставаться одной - их слова уже давно звучали как требование, а не как совет. Пенелопа, не имея более возможности их обманывать, была в отчаянии: её сын Телемах отправился на поиски отца уже несколько лет назад, и до сих пор от него не было никаких известий. Помощь пришла неожиданно. Эритий - опытный и решительный воин, преданный друг Одиссея, выросший вместе с ним, сам вызвался пойти вслед за Телемахом. Угасшая надежда ожила в сердце Пенелопы. Никто не знал, насколько странным окажется путешествие Эрития - а впрочем, всё равно никто не смог бы объяснить, какая сила заставила его шаг за шагом пройти тот путь, который 10 лет назад прошёл сам Одиссей.
