Full Motion Video: After each taken piece the player(s) are presented with a full screen full motion video scene. Chess Wars has over 45 minutes of full motion video presented by real actors, in real armor or on horseback fighting to the death. ADI employed a Hollywood producer, three time Emmy Award winning writer, professional actors and special effects artists for the project.
Special Effects: Hollywood style special effects will blow you away! All we can say is, don't mess with the Queens.
Animated Character Pieces: Each piece in the character set can animate on the board as they move and take another piece. Every character piece looks, moves and sounds like the real actors they emulate. All the animation is rendered in SVGA 800X600 at 65,000 colors.
16 bit 3-D Digital Sound Effects and Music: Chess Wars features truly realistic 3-D sound effects attached to each character piece and in every full motion video action scene. Original medieval music, midi music and totally awesome sound effects make Chess Wars an artistic masterpiece.
Multimedia Tutorial: Merlin, our full motion video chess tutor, uses his knowledgeable wisdom to show you how and where pieces can move. For the real chess buff, we've included opening variations and masters' games to test your skill.
Thousands of opening variations and masters' games: We've included over 100 opening books to play against. You can select from one of the top masters of all time, top 20 masters in the US, the top in the world, the top women and the top computer players. If you like to play against a particular masters' game or against a particular opening, we've included 4,000 opening variations and 60,000 masters' games. Each one you can view, review, or take it over and play it yourself.
32 bit Chess Engine: Chess Wars features a strong 32 bit engine which posts nearly grand master in ratings.
Multiple 2-D/3-D boards and backgrounds: Chess Wars includes the most pristine 3-D boards and backgrounds you have ever seen (all in SVGA 800X600X65000 colors). You can switch between 2-D/3-D, add additional menu's, change backgrounds or other settings with the click of a button. 3-D Wood Board
Internet Play: Art Data has included a windows based Chess Wars interface for playing chess on the Internet. You can play on the Internet Chess Club with over 4,000 existing members. You'll never have to worry about finding a player to play chess against. If you don't have a connection to the Internet, we have included all of the software and information you need to get connected.
Availability: Chess Wars will be released on PC CD-ROM and Macintosh CD-ROM in October 1996.
