Twisted Metal with a Stayin' Alive (tm) attitude!

The Good
Vehicular combat games so far have been a sub-genre to racing that isn't screwed up, and this is some proof right here. Although it feels like Twisted Metal, the game has unique cars of its own, such as a pickup truck, 6-wheeled moon trekker, a garbage truck, and even an RV! The music is 70's style, but in a good way. It sounds real disco-y, and the sound effects arent't really annoying. Lastly, the AI is something to fear. They know how to use their weapons effectively, so underestimation can be fatal.

The Bad
The physics. They SUCK!! If you get blown into the air, you can barely move, let alone shoot, while people can take potshots at you. Also, the levels are detailed and pretty, but disappointing. All of them are either flat almost always, or too hilly so control is a problem. Lastly, and this is a minor problem, but so cars are so big see what's in front of you can be a pain.

The Bottom Line
After the disappointment of Twisted Metal 3, this game is a fun, refreshing car combat game for the N64 boys and girls. Pick it up, even if you are addicted to Twisted Metal and nothing else.
