As Bud or Lindsey Brigman - the "Finders" - your mission is to return to Deepcore and the NTI Ark in search of some answers. Sound Source Interactive Inc. (Nasdaq:SSII) Tuesday announced that its first adventure game CD-ROM, "The Abyss: Incident at Europa," is now shipping.

The game is based on the film "The Abyss," directed by James Cameron. A national promotion with this game release offers the opportunity to obtain a free videocassette of "The Abyss."

"The Abyss: Incident at Europa" (SRP $29.99) provides several immersive, sometimes very alien environments in which players must explore and solve puzzles.

Starting in Deepcore, the undersea research vessel from the movie "The Abyss," players set out on an adventure to an alien research facility and the caverns located in the farthest reaches of Jupiter's moon, Europa. Mutated alien and human life forms provide further challenges as players explore each world. The adventure experience is enhanced by the beautiful cinematic sequences, lush aural soundscapes and a CD-quality soundtrack.

Based on a continuation of the original story from James Cameron's sci-fi classic, "The Abyss," the game takes place six years later, when a mysterious mutating disease strikes the crew of the submerged vessel, Deepcore, and the Non-Terrestrial Intelligence residing in the Cayman Trench.

As the main character, Bud Brigman or Lindsay Brigman, you must find out how to control this spreading mutagenic viral disease and save the galaxy. Fail, and the entire race of humans -- and countless other intelligent beings -- fall to bizarre genetic alterations of a strange, predatory alien species.
