Throne of Darkness
Windows version
A dreadfully lame attempt at a "Diablo-killer"
The Good
Several of the features, if they had been implemented well instead of poorly, would have been very interesting. In particular, the idea of a moderate-sized pool of adventurers dynamically swapped in and out of the in-play party sounded great. Item crafting sounded great, but was not available before the boring gameplay destroyed the game.
The Bad
The gameplay was boring and repetitive, and the items and quests terribly uninspired. The descriptive name of an item was of no use at all in guessing whether it was worth juggling your inventory to pick up. The Oriental settings could have made the game more interesting, but instead just caused "busyness" of the environment making it very hard to tell what objects could be interacted with.
The Bottom Line
It tried to be better than Diablo, but failed to be even comparable. It was boring and annoying, and a total waste of lifespan to play. It competes with Outpost for the all-time worst game released for the PC.
