Dawn of Fantasy
Description
Dawn of Fantasy is an online strategy game which adapts various characteristics of browser games. The basic gameplay is reminiscent of traditional real-time strategy games: the player sets a settlement in which the people exploit resources which are used to construct buildings. These have different functions, e.g. setting up an army. Additionally research is used to unlock upgrades. Later in the game, the player travels around the online world to trade, solve missions or participate in player-vs-player combat. For single players there is a battle mode and a campaign, basically a stripped down version of the online mode, available.
The browser game component can be summed up easily: everything takes place in real-time, for example constructing a temple takes seven hours. The only way to speed things up is to use more workers or to invest points (also used for buying upgrades) which are earned by solving missions or by buying them in the in-game shop. In contrast to most other games with this source of income, Dawn of Fantasy is not free to play.
