Final Fantasy Anthology

Moby ID: 5528

Relive the glory of classic role-playing with Final Fantasy Anthology, a collection featuring two of Square's finest Super Famicom adventures. Final Fantasy V is available for the first time ever in English, but Final Fantasy VI was previously sold here as Final Fantasy III for Super Nintendo. Both games feature graphics and sounds that seem somewhat dated, but you will revel in the lengthy quests and plenty of old-fashioned charm. Traditional hallmarks of the series abound in these games, such as crystals, Chocobos, airships, Moogles, and monster summoning. New additions to the games include CG cinemas, sound tests, bestiaries, and art galleries. Unfortunately, the PlayStation versions also add load time. In addition, included is a music CD containing original music from the two games' soundtracks, composed by series veteran Nobuo Uematsu. The Japanese release of the Final Fantasy Anthology included the fourth game in the series as well. No reason has been given for its exclusion from the domestic release.

Back of Case (U.S. version)

Final Fantasy V

The world thrived on the power of the four elemental crystals; Wind, Earth, Fire, and Water.

With the power of Wind, people sailed ships. With the power of Fire, they began the industrial movement. With Water, people quenched their thirst, and from Earth, they received blessings.

One day, the King of Tycoon, upon feeling an irregularity in the air currents, rushed to the Wind Shrine, only to find the Wind Crystal shattering to pieces right before his eyes. In addition to this catastrophe, an enormous meteor had fallen to the ground, causing earthquakes in the surrounding land near Tycoon Castle. In the ensuing chaos, the King of Tycoon disappears mysteriously. Why did the Crystal shatter? What ever happened to the missing Tycoon King? What meaning does the fallen meteor have?

The answers will start to unfold as this grand adventure, filled with new encounters and many mysteries begins...

Final Fantasy VI

Beings of pure magic once ruled the world with power and command. But power rarely leads to contentment.

A dispute amongst these beings turned into an all-out war. Beasts of doom, known as Espers, were created and unleashed to do the bidding of their masters. This "War of the Magi" reduced the world to smoldering rubble. When it ended, the Espers were gone, as was most of the world's population.

Many centuries have passed since the war. Civilizations have been rebuilt with iron, machines and technology. For years the Espers existed only in ancient legends. Now, an Esper has been discovered and the forces of magic are beginning to return. The risk of another, more devastating war is growing. What will the future hold?
