Der Herr der Ringe: Der Krieg im Norden ist ein spektakuläres Mehrspieler-Action-Rollenspiel, das auf den bekannten Erzählungen von J.R.R. Tolkien basiert. Da Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment die Rechte für die Entwicklung von Videospielen hat, die auf Inhalten der Herr-der-Ringe-Bücher und -Filme beruhen, konnte Entwickler Snowblind bekannte erzählerische Aspekte in die mehr als 12 verschiedenen Schauplätze des Spiels einbinden, von denen in der Trilogie lediglich 3 zu sehen sind.

Der Herr der Ringe: Der Krieg im Norden bringt mit einem Koop-Modus, bei dem die Aktionen der Spieler miteinander in Wechselwirkung stehen, frischen Wind ins RPG-Genre. Bis zu drei Spieler gründen ihr eigenes Bündnis und ziehen gemeinsam in brutale Schlachten. Bis dato unbekannte Gegenden, Geschichten und Charaktere stehen dabei ebenso auf dem Programm wie aus den Herr-der-Ringe-Filmen vertraute Elemente. Zusätzlich lassen komplexe Charakter-Individualisierung/Entwicklung, umfangreiche Koop-Gameplay-Optionen, verbesserbare Spezialfähigkeiten und aufrüstbare Waffen die Herzen von Rollenspiel-Fans höher schlagen. Um Saurons Truppen im Norden den Garaus zu bereiten, ist echte Team-Arbeit gefragt - oder die Spieler sind gemeinsam dem Untergang geweiht!
