Taito's unassuming yet addictive puzzle hit makes a welcome move to the N64. Get ready to lose your marbles!

The concept behind Bust-A-Move 2 is simple. A cluster of colored marbles descends slowly but surely upon your pointer/shooter at the bottom of the screen. You are given marbles, one at a time, which you shoot at the cluster after aiming with the Control Stick. When three identical marbles touch, they break apart and fall off your screen. If you quickly clear the entire screen, you will get a bonus.

Bust-A-Move 2 offers a wide-screen Puzzle mode for one player. You can also play split-screen games against another player or the CPU. Three difficulty settings and as many as nine continues guarantee long-term replayability.

Playing against the computer or another player calls for Tertis Attack-like strategies, such as building combos to send marbles to your rival's side. Bust-A-Move 2 also features a one or two-player Time Attack mode, which is much like Puzzle mode except that it features a split screen.

Software migration chores were capably handled by Extreme-G developer Probe, don't expect cutting edge graphics and sound here. Bust-A-Move 2 for N64 is virtually identical to Bust-A-Move 2 for Game Boy and, for that matter, Bust-A-Move for the Super NES. The cross-eyed dinosaur who cheers you on is as cute as ever. What sounds like a chorus of extremely happy 3-year-olds chants "Ready ... go!" before each round. The honky-tonk MIDI files aren't exactly top 10 material.

For sure, Bust-A-Move 2 doesn't push the technological envelope. But if you're looking for a relentlessly challenging puzzler, this is the game for you.
