Majikoi! Love Me Seriously!

Description official description

Some of the strongest people in Japan and even in the world underwent rigorous training at the temple in Kawakami City. It just so happens that the head of the temple, Tesshin Kawakami, is also the principal of the city's Academy; it's only natural that some of the fighting spirit has transcended borders and found its way into the hearts of the students. In this combative environment, protagonist Yamato Naoe is a rather normal high schooler. Sure, he's sly, and has above average intelligence which earned him the reputation of a strategist, but he's pretty weak compared to his girl friends who are all accomplished martial artists. He spends most of his free time with a group of friends he had since childhood, dubbed the Kazama family, after their leader. Together, these four boys and three girls have always remained united and never felt the need of adding new people to their comfort zone. But that is about to change, as two new girls join the Academy's dorm and force the gang to let their guard down. With the coming of the new semester, an important question is troubling Yamato as well: with whom of the five girls would he want to spend the rest of his life?

In Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai!! you guide the protagonist towards his true love, an ambition that might even lead to a conflict of global proportions, which is representative of the comedic style that dominates the writing: overblown tropes and characters in a rather normal Japan. The game is an erotic visual novel divided into three main parts. The first part is the prologue and introduces you to the characters and the setting, while in the second you must choose whose route you're going to pursue. Spending time together with one character may remove events specific to others. Once you make a girl interested enough, you can advance to the final part, which is actually dating her and trying to win her heart. You can't date other girls at this point. The game is played in typical visual novel fashion, by clicking through conversations and occasionally selecting one of several multiple choices. The various choices unlock additional dialogue, events and can affect the final ending as well.

The game follows established genre standards and offers the option of skipping conversations you already visited, while the events, including the erotic scenes, are saved in the extras section for later viewing.

Trivia

Adaptation

The game's plot was adapted into a manga and an anime. The manga, drawn by Shinsuke Inue, was serialized in the magazine Monthly Comp Ace and ran for 33 chapters (six volumes) between 2010 and 2013. The anime, counting 12 episodes, was animated by Lerche and aired during the fall season of 2011. Both adaptations are based on the Momoyo route from the original game, although the amount of original content varies significantly. Only the first episode in the anime is taken from the game, while the manga is closer to the source material.
