The mystery adventure game offers a thrilling interactive experience where players test their wits by solving puzzles and searching rooms for clues that will lead to the resolution of Nancy Drew's latest mystery. It is the sixth game in the highly acclaimed Nancy Drew CD-ROM series and is geared toward players ages 10 and up.

In Secret of the Scarlet Hand, Nancy Drew is helping to prepare an exhibit of artifacts from the ancient Maya civilization. Suddenly the museum alarms sound; a priceless Mexican relic has been stolen, and the only clue is a sinister scarlet handprint. As Nancy Drew, players investigate a string of mysterious thefts to uncover a long-buried secret and solve an ancient mystery.

As in all the Nancy Drew games from Her Interactive, players get in-game assistance by phoning Nancy's friends Ned, Bess and George. This game marks the first time that Nancy can also get help from her longtime friends, The Hardy Boys. Secret of the Scarlet Hand introduces several new game features including a Journal Mode, which allows players to view their progress. Just like all the games in the Nancy Drew series, Secret of the Scarlet Hand feature two levels of difficulty: Junior and Senior Detective.
