Unusual-looking platformer

The Good
The unusual, inventive level backgrounds and the surreal-looking, often strange enemies set this apart from the thousands of cute cartoon-style platform games out there. The ability to throw your character's head at enemies is a nice touch, and the game as a whole is addictive, has good music and is very playable.

The Bad
Once or twice it was difficult to see what was below.

The Bottom Line
Max D.Cap and his army of mutations and horrors have taken over the island inhabited by a mad professor. But, unlike most scientists in video games, he is a nice bloke, and has created the mummy-like bandage-clad Chuck D.Head to rid the land of Cap's evil minions. This means you, as Chuck, must negotiate your way through seven platform-jumping levels, each one with three sections. There are varied enemies, ranging from eye-popping blobs with spiked shells to killer plants and land-walking fish. At the end of every set of three sections you will face a boss - these include a hat-throwing mutant, a spitting monkey and finally Max D.Cap himself. All along the way are statues which can be broken open to reveal power-ups. These can include anything from extra energy, spells which can increase certain abilities or destroy enemies, to a head which can be thrown like a weapon at villains. Make it through all seven levels to return the land to its former united condition.
