Streak Hoverboard Racing

Moby ID: 8163

Enter the world of secretive, high-tech racing where only the best athletes have any hope of success. Using a GEMBlade hoverboard, you must streak your way through a huge variety of dynamic and ever-changing environments.

The GEMBlades have the ability to hover above any surface - concrete, ice, asphalt, water - leaving only a neon coloured vapour trail in its wake.

GEMBlade races don't need custom-built race courses - due to the incredible technology of the GEMBlades, freeways, streets, sewers, graveyards and even shopping malls are used instead!

Streak is an extremely dangerous and exhilarating underground sport where only the most ruthless and talented "streakers" will return to race again.

GT Interactive Launches 'Streak' New PlayStation Game Console Title Designed by Its SingleTrac Studio

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 4, 1998--

Futuristic Hoverboard Racer Debuts

GT Interactive Software Corp. (Nasdaq: GTIS) announces the release of Streak, a new original game for the PlayStation(R) game console created by the company's million unit-plus selling SingleTrac studio. GT Interactive's Streak pushes the envelope of racing through its use of anti-gravity game technology. Streak is being supported by extensive print advertising, strategic cross-promotions and an aggressive online outreach program.

"With its thrilling combination of intense racing and radical stunt maneuvering, the Streak game play experience appeals to an audience beyond that of the traditional gamer," said Holly Newman, vice president of Marketing for GT Interactive. "Our strategic cross-promotional tie-ins supplement our own efforts and gives Streak a tremendous awareness to a larger, more diverse audience."

In a national television cross-promotion, GT Interactive is offering Streak as part of the prize package for BKN's "Jumanji's Wild Adventure Sweepstakes" in which viewers of the popular cartoon show may win a copy of the game. In addition, GT Interactive has secured strategic cross-promotions with Gummi Savers, Sportsmart and Liquid Snowboards, and is running extensive print advertising in a variety of consumer publications. Co-op advertising with major retailers is also in place to support the product.

Set in a contemporary fictional world, Streak pits a select group of individuals against one another in underground races, using a top-secret technology. Riding "GEMBlades" which float one foot above the ground, racers must navigate through extreme "tracks" at speeds of up 70 MPH. Adding a revolutionary new element to racing, Streak also encourages players to flip, twist, and soar their way to the accolades of unseen judges through the use of a "confidence meter." Stunts are scored based on difficulty and excellence of performance, and as players increase their confidence, their top-speed and other game characteristics become enhanced.

Streak for the PlayStation(R) game console is currently available for a suggested retail price of $49.95.
