SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle
Windows version
One good simulation!
The Good
Unlike the rainbow-six series, which suffer from the complex-mission-planning
syndrome, and the use of the entire keyboard - this one is a beauty.
Also, the fact you are a police officer, forces you to think twice before
blasting everybody on the screen straight to satan's backyard. This
twist actually adds the need to THINK (quake lovers - go home!).
The Bad
The AI team members under your command (4 of them - no less!) could
use some more brains - not once you will see them going in only to be
mowed down by a bad guy hiding around the corner. the ever-important
"Stop" command was actually left out of the orders menu.
The Bottom Line
An accurate simulation of SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) team - the
police's special operations dept. You will handle missions like hostage rescue,
assault, and alike using state-of-the-art weapons and gear.
While being a solo fighter is easy - you get to command a team of 4 other men
(broken into 2 couples - put one to cover while the other breaks in). This adds
a need for sense of responsibility, otherwise your men will die.
Altogether this is a very entertaining game, that already have a large group of
fans gathered around it.
