Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals

Is there more than meets the eye to BAM Entertainment's cybernetic tournament fighter?

In the olden days, kids somehow made do with primitive Transformers which could only transform into two forms: robot, and vehicle. Now, in the 21st century, action figure fanatics get to play with Transmetals Transformers, which have the power to transform into three battle modes: robot, vehicle and beast. Today's Maximals and Predacons make yesteryear's Autobots and Deceptacons look like scrap metal!

Furthermore, while the children of yesteryear had to resort to their imaginative powers to bring their Transformers to life, kids today are living high on the hog with BAM Entertainment's new tournament fighter featuring the toughest Transmetals on Cybertron. All hail the technological revolution!

Heavy Metal

Featuring 11 Transmetals Transformers, Beast Wars is designed to cater more to fans of the animated series than to serious tournament fighter gamers. Players can transform their fighters into robot, vehicle or beast and attack, mostly by firing projectile weapons.

The combo-free fighting system will appeal to young gamers, while slick transformation animations capture the appeal of Hasbro's long-lived line of action figures.

The backbone of Beast Wars is its Arcade Mode, which pits your Transformer against the other Transformers in traditional tournament-style play. Even on the toughest difficulty setting, though, players of all skill levels should be able to blow through the competition quicker than Optimus Primal through Tarantulas' web. Luckily, BAM Entertainment makes an effort to provide some replay value with a decent selection of other gameplay modes.

Transformers Beast Wars: Transmetals is definitely aimed at a young audience, but veteran gamers may get a nostalgic kick out of taking this Pak for a brief test-fight.
