Health Warning

Unusually, the back of the box warns that the background effects on the final level can cause epileptic seizures in those susceptible to the condition, and thus warns epileptics to stop playing at the end of the fourth level

Publishing misfortunes

Hoi was originally intended for publication from Innerprise Software, however their interest faded after a 60%-complete cracked version was released by the pirate group Fairlight. Despite promises to resolve the situation, Innerprise never responded - rumours suggest that it was an Innerprise employee who leaked the game, but nothing was ever proven. After giving up on Innerprise they signed with Micro-Illusions, then financially struggling after losing their Hanna-Barbera license deal. The company renamed itself as Hollyware before eventually releasing the game, however Team Hoi did not receive the expected royalties from either US or European publication - ending up with a mere $200 for over a year's hard work. The team sadly concluded that they did not have the muscle or contacts to successfully sue, so instead released an enhanced AGA version as freeware to get some recognition. This release allows the player to play any of the five levels immediately, and dryly calls the final level 'Epileptic finale'
