Sailor Zombie: AKB Arcade Edition

Disaster strikes at pop idol megagroup AKB's Thrill of the Night concert! Why has everyone turned into zombies? Why are there werewolves running around? Is the merchandise stand still open?

Sailor Zombie puts the player in the shoes of the only fan to escape the concert unzombified. They also posses the only vaccine pistol capable of restoring zombified fans and idols to humanity. Players start by choosing one of 8 AKB idols as their partner; the remaining idols become the zombies that the player shoots during the game. Zombies take several vaccine shots before they collapse, and are worth points based on a shot combo counter. Each shooting stage has idols hidden in the background who will reward merchandise bonuses if shot. In addition to zombie stages there are also two boss stages against werewolves, who are defeated by shooting glowing weakpoints before they are able to attack.

Music soothes the savage soul, even for the undead. In between shooting stages the chosen partner idol is able to temporarily restore the zombie girls' sanity by queuing up AKB hit songs. During these necromatic night-shows the player's gun becomes a tambourine, and they must follow the onscreen rhythm prompts to maintain their combo.

As with all AKB media the game ties into a popularity contest, with each of the idols rising and falling on a leaderboard based on how often they are chosen and how high of a score is attained while they are a partner.
