Trivia

Australia

BMX XXX was originally banned in Australia on October 16, 2002. However, a modified version was passed with a MA15+ rating. One feature that was removed in the censored version is the option of creating a naked female rider.

Meanwhile, the kiwis decided to make a joke of Australia's censorship system by adding a "BANNED IN AUSTRALIA" sticker somewhere on the box.

Dave Mirra

In 2003, Dave Mirra launched a lawsuit against Acclaim over this game, claiming they had used the "Dave Mirra brand" in it's promotions and advertising. The lawsuit was settled amicably out of court.

Indeed, Dave Mirra had appeared as a character in very early information for this game, prior to it's release.

Park editor

A park editor feature was announced in very early information, but was apparently scrapped. However, if one enters the cheat code BULLETPOINT, the feature pops up in the main game menu. Selecting any option in the editor menu will cause the game to freeze.

PlayStation 2 version

The PlayStation 2 version has most of the actual photos of topless women censored, though polygonal nudity remains. Sony claimed:

We didn't feel that the topless nudity fundamentally added to the gameplay experience, and it presented in issue with regard to our global platform strategy and our guidelines. And because we have invested so much, and have built in so much equity to our system, we feel we need to protect that.

Unused music tracks

The Xbox version has code for 8 music tracks that didn't appear in the final game. In the file music.zsd, there are tracks from rock and metal bands Motley Crue, No Doubt and The White Stripes, and rap groups Eric B. & Rakim and Quarashi.
