Kicking off the second Dark Designs trilogy, Passage to Oblivion forms the first part of a new story arc, set many years after the conclusion of the previous chapter. For all this time, following the defeat of Agamol, the lands of Tarador were at peace; now, however, the Queen is acting mighty strange - and a dying confidant reveals that she has become possessed by Agamol's spirit.

A new band of hardy adventurers must journey into Oblivion to procure the Potion of Salvation, Tarador's only hope. This episode takes place entirely in Tarador, as our heroes try to obtain the gold and relics to cover the costs of the journey. Dark Designs IV plays much like its predecessors, with certain differences: a more elaborate home base with different locations for specific functions, a different spell system, and some changes to character management; dead high-level characters can now either be revived at the temple or replaced with multi-class characters. As such, it's not possible to import characters from the previous game this time around.
