Černaja Metka (The Hunt) is a first-person action game based on the novel 'Black Label' ("Chernaya Metka", "Чёрная Метка") by Andrey Dashkov. In the near future a new Russian TV show called The Hunt becomes popular. It takes place in Moscow and the concept of the show is that thirteen random people are given a 'black label' virus which will kill a person if it is not transferred to other people. The last, thirteenth victim cannot pass on the 'black label' to someone. Either the virus will kill that last person, that person survives or dies fighting the Hunters characters in the show. If the virus is passed on to other people it kills the victim.
The main character of game, Nikolay Kamolov, became the last victim of The Hunt season. His goal is to survive on the streets of Moscow and dispose of the virus or die. The gameplay is inspired by the Condemned series as well as The Running Man (both the movie and the novel). Kamolov mainly fights with melee weapons such as a wrench, fire axe, pipe, police baton, etc. but a pistol, shotgun and assault rifle are also available.
He can kill enemies silently, using mines or through melee attacks. In some levels medkits, armor, regenerators, a flashlight, night vision glasses and mines can be bought. It is also possible to bet money on killing enemies. Locations in the game include a metro, Moscow outskirts, Moscow catacombs, a park, a pool and a television studio. In some levels Kamolov has to fight bosses such as Raven, Baseballer, Saw and Frankenstein.
